Wow, I can’t believe that it’s April, and this is my first photo for the year– I actually took it a few weeks ago, but didn’t get around to uploading it. Partly this is because I got a new computer (yay!) and I only just got around to installing RAW converting software onto it, but mostly it’s because I’ve been busy trying to finish my thesis: I am almost finished my first draft. I only have a few thousand words to go on my final chapter, but damn it if those words aren’t taking me forever. Once I finish that I have six short months to get the final draft into shape– and believe me, six months is not a long time for the amount of work I need to get done. I’m getting nervous.
When I’ve not been doing my thesis, I’ve been unwinding by watching copious amounts of Doctor Who and Torchwood. For some reason, watching DVDs seems less naughty than doing photography, even though photography is ultimately far more productive. I think though, that with my thesis, my brain just needs to be able to shut off for a bit, which it certainly doesn’t do when I’m taking photographs. Well, okay, it doesn’t shut off when I’m watching TW and DW either (I’ve even figured out how to incorporate Captain Jack into my thesis :P), but photography involves more active use of one’s brain, rather than passive use.
Anyway, I’m hoping I can finish my final chapter over the weekend (I just need to force myself damn it), and maybe also do some photography– the light has been really amazing lately, and it would be a shame just to let my camera keep gathering dust.
