day 37::365 gratitude::pola info?

day 37::365 gratitude::pola info?

belive it or not, i’ve had this camera since high school. back then i was buying sx-70 film so that i could take photos and manipulate them….i REALLY wish i still had one of them to post up here, but alas, between this computer and many others all of those photos may well be lost (hey, it wasn’t as popular back then!)…i’ll still look though.

can anyone give me info on how best to get more film for this guy? i’m sure there’s a fairly short supply of it out there *right*? so don’t share anything you don’t want to! i would be grateful for any info though! 🙂 oooooor, i could just spend hours on the internet looking it up which may put my relationship in serious jeaopardy (ok, i’m only half kidding here ;o))

Blue Wrench Emulsion

Blue Wrench Emulsion

These colors were created by forming an emulsion of cooking oil and water drops on the shiny side of a CD, and then shining a bright light on to the mixture. I used my 60 mm macro lens focused as closely as possible. The colors can be changed by partially blocking the light, and also by using a mirror to change where the light goes. This is fun stuff to play with. This is straight photography (whatever that is), and not created on a computer, although I used Photoshop to adjust contrast, saturation and remove tiny bubbles and specks of dust.

I’ve created an album with psychedelic content that can be seen here if you like this sort of thing. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets

More of my emulsion art images can be seen in my Emulsion Art set. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157625787156195/...

I’ve been tagged a million thousand times, sorry for getting to it so late!!
The people I tagged are people that either inspire me or people that I tagged because I haven’t ever tagged them before 😀
Hahh, I added this photo to like, a million groups x) I hope you guys find some that you’d like to join 😀
Okay, here we go again:

1. I ALWAYS have such a hard time with self-portraits.
2. I received a text from my buddy Jonny at the exact same moment that the camera shutter went off, which is most likely how this photo came out nearly perfect.
3. I was originally going to take a photo of me jumping on my bed but my dog went all crazy and jumped onto the bed and started barking at me (I’ll upload those images soon)
4. I’m beginning to miss my red hair, I feel like it was a part of me.
5. The shirt that I’m wearing is probably my favorite shirt, I scored it at Platos Closet.
6. I really want a job soon, I’m dying to have a new camera.
7. This school year I’m going to begin taking photography classes (hopefully). I’m kind of excited, but I have a feeling I won’t like it so much…
8. I wish I could take photos on film rather than digital, I love film so much better, but I don’t have the money for it.
9. My computer is still broken )’:
10. I can’t tell if I’m nervous or excited for school next month. It’s a mix of both I guess…?

Intangible

Intangible

“The true harvest of my life is intangible – a little star dust caught, a portion of the rainbow I have clutched”
Henry David Thoreau

This was my first time at the Palouse Falls and the area was nothing like I had imagined. Amazing country and a lot to take in on the first visit – can’t wait to go back at different times of day. The off and on rainbows were so much fun – magical really – to see. I played a lot with exposure, using a polarizer to stop everything down, and did some bracketing, though this is one single image.

Well, school started yesterday and I am taking 20 credits. Part of me wants to just go out and shoot while the other part tells me that this is an important quarter and that once it is over my toolbox will be quite full. At any rate, with or without school, my plate is overloaded with photography. I am compiling and checking over the images that are going to the agency, which now that the contract is signed, I’d better get done! And some more to another company and then there is an order to fill. Classes and work study – projects – life… I cleaned up my hard drive last night and regained 150 gig on that and another on my LaCie portable drive – that on top of the 50 or so gig I cleaned up last week – so at least my computer is running faster and things are better organized. If anyone thinks that being a freelance photographer is easy business – well, it kind of consumes one’s life. Nature and tourism does anyway. Not that I am complaining at all – it is all good.

Off to class.
