qLogic chip on drive

qLogic chip on drive

A qLogic chip on a Fujitsu 73 Gb SCSI hard drive. Taken in Albany, CA by a Nikkormat FT2 with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm ƒ3.5 lens on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Dust removal, color and gamma correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

this is 1:2 (or half life size…) on the film plane.

What the chip does, I have no idea, as I can’t find any reference to it on Qlogic’s site

80 to 68 pin SCSI converter

80 to 68 pin SCSI converter

Close-up of a 68 to 80 pin (or vice-versa…) SCSI converter board, seen from the 68 pin side. Cropped to eliminate excess background.

This is 1:3 (I.E. 1/3 life size) on the film plane… and taken from a range of about 14 inches…

Zuiko 85mm ƒ2 2

Zuiko 85mm ƒ2 2

A rarely used Zuiko 85mm ƒ2 (focused at infinity) for an Olympus OM system camera. Taken at home in Albany, CA by a Nikkormat FT2 with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm ƒ3.5 non-AI on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010, Dust elimination, color and gamma correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

This shot also illustrates the shallow Depth of Field (DOF) that a 55mm lens has at 1:3 (1/3 life size on the film plane) reproduction ratio, and at ƒ5.6.

SY BofA 2k

SY BofA 2k

The San Ysidro, CA Bank of America, at East San Ysidro Blvd and Olive Drive. Taken in 2000 by an Olympus OM-1MD with a Zuiko 50mm ƒ1.8 lens on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010, dust removal color & gamma correction dine in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

I have no idea if the branch still looks like this… but it was still open in January 2013. (the last time I was in S.Y., and was by the place – I was driving, so I wasn’t able to note details…)

component side 73 Gb

component side 73 Gb

The component (or "bottom") side of a Fujitsu 73 Gb SCSI Hard drive. Taken in Albany, CA by a Nikkormat FT2 with a Micro-Nikor 55mm ƒ3.5 lens on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Dust removal, gamma and color correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

Unknown if that blue on the black case at top of photo is from a light leak in the camera, (doubtful…) some sort of scan problem, a processing glitch, (which I’ve had before) or mismatched color temperatures in the lighting…

SD trolley 1016

SD trolley 1016

San Diego Trolley # 1016, a Siemans-Duwag U2 from the second group of 1982, "steams" into the Bayer Avenue station, northbound, in San Ysidro, CA on what is now the Blue Line. (I don’t remember if the line was called that when this shot was taken…) Taken in 2000 by an Olympus OM-1MD with a Zuiko 50mm ƒ1.8 lens on Kodak Portra 400NC. Exposure is in the 1/15 to 1/8 second range, wide open, panning used. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Dust reduction, color and gamma correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. This is about as naturalistic as I can get the color, given the mix of lighting sources! (Mercury vapor, Sodium vapor, and fading twilight outside, tungsten headlights, and flourescent lighting inside the car…)

I’m waiting for a southbound to take me to the border, (the next stop…) bound for Tijuana.

The entire 1### series of the San Diego Trolley was retired in January of 2015, BTW.

Torrey Pine TPSP 2k 1

Torrey Pine TPSP 2k 1

A Torrey Pine Pinus torreyana exhibiting "salt pruning" growing in the Torrey Pines State Reserve near La Jolla, CA. Taken by an Olympus OM-1MD with a Zuiko 50mm ƒ1.8 lens on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Dust removal, color and gamma correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

This species is endangered, (with [according to Wikipedia] about 3000 specimens known) as it only grows in or near the reserve, and on one Channel Island, (Santa Rosa Island) in the coastal sage and chaparral communities. (much reduced by home and industrial construction since 1900)

Qbird TPSP 2k

Qbird TPSP 2k

Unknown bird, possibly a White-Crowned Sparrow Zonotrichia leucophrys, perched on a fence south of the Torrey Pines State Reserve, La Jolla, CA. Taken by an Olympus OM-1MD with a Zuiko 50mm ƒ1.8 lens on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Dust removal, color and gamma correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. Cropped ruthlessly to squareish and additional gamma correction done in Piknik®.

Sorry I can’t be more certain of the bird species, but this is as close as the bird would let me get, and I only had the normal lens with me…

Visible beyond the fence is the "gliderport" access path to Black’s Beach. (San Diego’s [in]famous nude beach)

M-6 SY 2k 2

The San Ysidro Motel-6’s south wing, north side. Taken by an Olympus OM-1MD with a 50mm ƒ1.8 lens on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer with an HP G4010. Dust removal, color and gamma correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

Seen from near the entrance of the next-door Denny’s. I moved about 10" east (left) between the prior shot and this one, so that pickup wouldn’t block the view.
