After shooting and posting this shot I got the vacuum out and vaced the dust out of those buttons on the day bed in my computer room. Guess I’m going to have to get rid of the maid. 😉 (shown is Nikon D70s and 55 200vr)

PS, The dust not only shows off my sloppy house keeping it shows off how well the little Nikon 18 55vr does

Christmas Snow

Christmas Snow

I got a Nikon D90 for Christmas!!!!!!!!!! : )

We visited relatives in Bristol, VA-TN for Christmas and woke up Christmas morning to a dusting of snow. It snowed on and off all day! I do love a white Christmas! Kind of a rough start to our trip back the next morning but we drove out of the white stuff a few hours North and had a clear trip most of the way. We hit snow again in Gettysburg, PA and had to drive in snow the rest of the way home to the York, PA area. Our snow didn’t amount to much in PA, but it was pretty while it was snowing! : )

Work Hard, Play Hard, Rest Well

Work Hard, Play Hard, Rest Well

Day 67 – March 8, 2010

Still nursing flu like symptoms today so did not have the energy to really go out and shoot.

Its been a while since I’ve played Guitar Hero, or any of my other games. In fact at work today a conversation about Pokemon had me remembering my Gameboy gathering up dust in storage as well.

Having said that I wanted to use both illustrations (being sick and computer games) to point out the importance of finding a balance in life, between work, play and rest. One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is not to lean heavily towards one or the other.

Its never good to be too comfortable on the couch as life is precious and we should make the most of every single moment. Its also never worth it to pour out all your energy on work especially when it takes a toll on your health.

I wonder when I will ever learn.

PHOTO NOTES:
2 Textures Used, Overlay, 48% and 21% respectively from here and here.
Lighting using natural room light & 1 tungsten lamp 6 feet to the left of the guitar

Poppy about to BURST into bloom…

Poppy about to BURST into bloom...

Every spring I watch for the poppies in my garden to bloom… they are almost ready… this is the first to start! It seems a tiny spider has been building a web that may not survive the bursting forth into bloom. (nicer viewed large)

I’ve been extremely distracted with several things lately… last but not least… a failure of Bluetooth on my computer has left me with a less than ideal keyboard (typing is no fun) and a mouse that is quite uncooperative! I’m so far behind everywhere that I haven’t found time to back up my computer and take it in to the geeks at Apple who will diagnose the problem and fix it (thank heaven for the 3-year warranty upgrade).

I’ll be out of my house (staying nearby) during the next week due to a painting/floor refinishing project that will mean fumes and dust. If I’m slower than usual stopping by, know that I will do so eventually!
