The Multipurpose Urban Park
Parks date back to the formation of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. During the eras of aristocracy, beautiful gardens were exclusively for members of the royalty as well as the nobility. These gardens were home to a variety of plants both locally and imported from faraway places. Whenever the nobles are stressed out by their work, they retreat to the garden to experience tranquility.
As time progressed the gardens once exclusive to members of the elite society were gradually opened to the public. The structures of these parks are slightly different from the royal gardens of aristocratic periods. They were more simplistic, consisting usually of a few plants on a wide field of grass. However, these parks still had the same soothing effect as the royal gardens, ideal for the weary city folk.
Parks grew over the course of time as a popular recreation area—a place where people can take a good break. This is a concrete example of nature coming to the citizens instead of the other way around. Most parks are typically gardens, which mean they do not have structures to house recreational amenities, like pools or courts. Fortunately, these parks do not need to have such amenities.
People can do almost any activity in an urban park just by bringing the necessary things. Denver parks and recreation centers can become places to play fetch with your pet dog or ball games with some of your friends. Contemporary artists are known to travel to parks to paint the scenery in their canvasses.
Other Denver parks and recreation centers have a huge pond in the middle, offering boat rides and fish feeding. Swimming pools and sport courts are add-ons for the park to become more multipurpose. Parties and other events can be held out in the open for guests to feel closer to nature.
Thousands of people go to Denver parks and recreation centers daily as their stress busters. While they may look like a patch of greens in the heart of a city or town, a park is a place where friends, family and lovers spend their quality time together.
