Zuiko 85mm ƒ2 2

Zuiko 85mm ƒ2 2

A rarely used Zuiko 85mm ƒ2 (focused at infinity) for an Olympus OM system camera. Taken at home in Albany, CA by a Nikkormat FT2 with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm ƒ3.5 non-AI on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010, Dust elimination, color and gamma correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

This shot also illustrates the shallow Depth of Field (DOF) that a 55mm lens has at 1:3 (1/3 life size on the film plane) reproduction ratio, and at ƒ5.6.

spider front stairs 1

spider front stairs 1

A spider, species unknown, sits in its orb-type web on my front stairs in Albany, CA. (in the railings…) Taken by a Nikkormat FT2 with a 55mm ƒ3.5 Micro-Nikor AI lens on Kodak Portra 400VC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Cropped heavily to 4×5 aspect ratio.

This individual appears to be missing a leg – at least, I only count seven legs… Yes, the shot is grainy and somewhat dusty… (on this shot, I couldn’t distinguish dust on the negative from dust/dirt in the web) On my 17" CRT screen (1152×864 resolution) this shot is at least twice life size – possibly 3x…

Cellar Spider BY 5-8-13

Cellar Spider BY 5-8-13

A Cellar Spider (exact species unknown – there are 20 species in the genus Pholcus that are very similar to each other…) Pholcus sp? that I found in an un-dusted corner of my computer room (a converted bedroom) in Albany, CA. Taken by a Nikon F4s with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm ƒ 3.5 AI lens on Kodak Portra 400.

Taken at 1/2 life-size on the film plane…

That’s a window stile (painted grey) behind the spider… I caught the translucence of the legs… Unusually for this genus, this guy/gal has all his/her legs…

component side 73 Gb

component side 73 Gb

The component (or "bottom") side of a Fujitsu 73 Gb SCSI Hard drive. Taken in Albany, CA by a Nikkormat FT2 with a Micro-Nikor 55mm ƒ3.5 lens on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Dust removal, gamma and color correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

Unknown if that blue on the black case at top of photo is from a light leak in the camera, (doubtful…) some sort of scan problem, a processing glitch, (which I’ve had before) or mismatched color temperatures in the lighting…

Note that the bus is painted in the Rapid livery, but that the livery is fading badly… this seems to be happening to a lot of the buses in the rapid livery…

EVGA nVidia GT 240

EVGA nVidia GT 240

EVGA Nvidia GT240 1Gb video card, with a 35mm film can for scale. Taken in Albany, CA by a Nikkormat FT2 with a Micro-Nikkor 55mm ƒ3.5 AI lens on Kodak Portra 400NC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Dust removal, gamma and color correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

This card was removed from the computer due to persistent BSOD’s, and has somehow disappeared from my house! It wasn’t stolen, (I think…) but I can’t find it… [added] I’ve re-found this card… but it is still not installed in any computer… I’m going to give this card another shot in a computer, as I think the BSOD’s (Blue Screen Of Death…) were the fault of the driver, not the card itself. (and I’ve upgraded the drivers…)

[second update] Yup, it was the drivers: this is now processing CUDA in my fastest (to date…) computer. (well, whenever that computer deigns to operate!)
