We are so advantageous in Scotland to accept such circuitous and admirable rocks, abounding areas actuality of apple importance.

“I additionally adulation the able wildlife and curiosity at how the creatures of our mountains survive the acute conditions. In a daze, In a blur

In a daze, In a blur

I just love the imperfections, the way the focus goes out at the corners, the dust and stratches. It’s so imperfect that it just has a character all of its own.

I set up the computer to trigger the camera every 5 seconds or so for 10 shots consecutively so what you get here is me walking over to take a look.

“Eye-Fi + Canon EOS M + tripod for Serenity” #photography #tools/ SML.20130123.223056.IP3.645Pro

I bought an Eye-Fi card a while back assuming that it could geotag photos for me on the G12 if I use the iPhone app but no matter what I do I couldn’t get that to work so I finally gave up and it was sitting dust.

But now that I have the EOS M semi-permanently mounted on a tripod next to the window so I never miss anything for the Serenity series, it has a new found use—automatically transferring raw and video captures to my computer while I photograph—thus removing the need to open SD card, import photos and put it back onto the camera. A great improvement to the workflow. Super sweet.

Through the reflection you can also see me photographing this with the iPad 3 mounted on the hover bar, thus leaving both hands free for controls. By using 645pro set to Nighttime mode, this capture works well as the slow-shutter is no longer an issue.

Photographed as RAW TIFF on 645pro, cropped down and processed in Lightroom 4. As usual, pardon the chaos. Also you will note that I have downsized to a twin from my New York queen bed. A bit sad but then space is expensive in Hong Kong and I get used to it.

TANTRUM

TANTRUM

This maneuver and others much like it are keeping my hands full (literally) these days, hence not so much computer action of late. Plus, the camera I’ve been using for the past 3 years just finally bit the dust. (D thinks there’s no hope of recovery…I sure got my money’s worth from it I suppose.)

365 Day Challenge – Day 5

365 Day Challenge - Day 5

Self portrait – these are hard to do! Focus on this, stand in front of that. Make sure I’m in the right position in the frame. I’m too stubborn to ask the wife to take the picture. No, that means it wouldn’t be a _self_ portrait,. I had to do it myself. I’m just lucky I managed to stand on one of the thirds.

I recently acquired the Alienbee ABR800 ring flash. The experienced can tell by the halo shadow around my image. The background is just the wall. There looks to be a spot of dust on the left near my head. Hopefully it isn’t on the sensor. Vignetting is 100% natural. No Photoshop here!

I’m not a big fan of "fixing up" photos. I believe in taking it right the first time. I guess I would rather be out shooting rather than in front of a computer manipulating pictures. That’s not to say I won’t use Photoshop. It’s just I try to avoid it.

365.332 – Passport

365.332 - Passport

Day Three Hundred Thirty Two: November 9th, 2007.

I booked it!

I waited for the right time and wound up with a nearly perfect deal.

It’s time to dust off that passport – I’m going back to the U.K. again for a visit in March 2008.

After three trips to London last year and a lot of drama that followed each one, I needed to take a break this year and not put myself in an unhealthy situation.

Time heals all things, right?

Let’s hope so.

I’m ready to go back and will be doing things quite differently this time. At the most, I might spend one night in London or just a day there exploring but I’ll be staying in Tunbridge Wells this time to visit a good friend.

I’ve got a hotel reserved and it’s going to take me 3 months to save up to pay for it! So I may not be taking any other trips until then but that’s okay.

I’m looking forward to exploring more of the English countryside and already I’m compiling a long list of things to do and places to see.

Having something big to look forward to will make winter in Duluth a little more tolerable.

There’s only one thing that I’m struggling with. I haven’t told a certain person about this trip and I don’t know if I should. It’s a complicated situation and it’s hard to know what to do. We’re getting along so well now as friends that I don’t want to rock the boat. No pun intended. I just don’t want her to feel hurt if I’m not able to see her this time. And if I’m not able to see her, should I even tell her that I’m coming?

Hard to know what to do.

Day 281: Changes In Me

Day 281: Changes In Me

281/365
March 4, 2010
I’m going to confess, this picture is just as much of a surprise to me as it is to you. I literally came out from ethics and had 20 minutes to take pictures and read the pages I was supposed to for my next class (procrastination, gotta love it). I had NO clue what I wanted to do today…so I literally stepped in front of the camera, took three pictures of me just standing there and went on with my day. It wasn’t until later that I came up with this idea…which I don’t know if I like or not yet.

Just a warning for everyone, my pictures will probably go downhill for the next week or so. I’m going back to Ohio to the SLOWEST computer on the face of the earth. Tomorrow I’ll be on a train most of the day but will attempt to get a picture cranked out and edited before I leave…we’ll see. If not, expect it the day after…

I really need this break but I can’t help but be a little sad. A few months ago Garry and I were talking about seeing one another for spring break…that’s obviously not going to happen. It makes me worry about this summer…if I don’t get to see him this summer we’ll have gone a year + without seeing one another and already we’re beginning to slowly slip into some sort of madness-him especially. I sometimes step back and wonder how in the world I have gone this long without scratching my eyes out :S I dunno…

Either way, I plan on sleeping…a LOT. I won’t get back to Ohio until 3am then it’s another hour drive to the house. I’ll be alright though…

TRF: My friends and I went to Taco Bell last night which was oh so yummy! Then we went back to Melissa’s house and watched Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Basically I like the movie only because I performed in it my Junior year of high school but watching it with 3 hardcore Christians made me really uncomfortable….

Scarydust [Day 4/7]

Scarydust [Day 4/7]

The dust is "scary" because I say so. And it rhymes with "fairy."

This is better viewed large.
The dust is fuzzy because of the depth of field not allowing for it to be in focus at the same time I am.

And so.
Today went like this:

– I woke up just before noon. Really late for me.
– Empty house.
– Called Mom.
– Found out Mom was at the mall.
– Mom came home.
– We were planning to go shopping somewhere. Don’t remember for what though.
– Hannah came home from school early.
– Mom and I went out and took Hannah, after a painstaking process of deciding where to eat [which turned out to be Boston Market].
– We ate.
– We planned to go to the grocery store after we shopped for other stuff first.
– I wanted to go to Newbury Comics. There’s a CD that Hannah wants [and she already knows that I want to get it for her, so I feel relatively "safe" posting this here; even if she finds out, she already knows].
– We went shopping.
– When we finished at the first store, we ended up going home.
– Got home.
– Took a bazillion pictures.
– Got frustrated that my cat wouldn’t leap onto my feet for a photo.
– Loaded files onto my computer.
– Right-click > Open With… > Flickr Uploadr
– Started typing this thing.
– Wanted to stop typing.
– Kept going.

…Uh, and now I’m getting off the computer…

There was a bunch of other stuff that I left out, but that was basically my day…
