Cooling fan on a barely used, original iMac

Cooling fan on a barely used, original iMac

Back in 1998, a guy I work with bought himself a brand new iMac. He fiddled around with it, but soon realized that computers weren’t really for him so he tucked it in a closet and forgot about it. I convinced him to bring it into work so I could have a look at it.

Did I mention, Bob didn’t use it that much? There’s not a speck of dust on this fan. It is the cleanest computer I’ve ever worked on!

We have 3 computers…

All Macs.

We have an ipad, an itouch, and 2 iphones.

We positively love Apple!

This is what you’ll find us doing on any given day.

Naturalist is researching world leaders for a history project she’s started.

Golfer is finding out more info on penguins. He loves him some penguins, which I find utterly adorable.

Sassy is playing Minecraft. Have you seen it?! it’s amazing, and we’re addicted! www.minecraft.net

I am apparently doing everything but dusting the living room table, which needs it!

Inside The Case, Before Polishing.

Inside The Case, Before Polishing.

Normally I just wipe inside the case with a lint free cloth and brush the dust from the hard to reach places with a paint brush, but I had an Idea and decided to experiment. The inside of the case is coated with a metal oxide to help stop interference, over time the metal gets tarnished and becomes dull. So I decided to polish it with some metal polish. I used a lint free wipe to apply the polish and another to buff it up.

This is the case before I started polishing.

Everything Back Together

Everything Back Together

One of my Classic II’s has been playing up recently, so I decided to give it a overhaul.
I striped it down, to clean out he dust and fluff that it has accumulated over the years.

Pictured here everything put back together, apart from the case.
