Motivational Sayings – How to Guarantee the Inspiration Lasts!

Motivational Sayings – How to Guarantee the Inspiration Lasts!

We all love motivational sayings. They stir the blood, get our minds thinking, and cause us to dream big!

Through the years, famous authors, poets, religious figures, military leaders, and business tycoons have passed along sayings that hint at what it takes to succeed. We love them. We devour them. We quote them. And they do have great value.

Yet, can you name a motivational phrase that has single-handedly changed your life?

Be honest … do they really do you any good? Does the inspiration last? Usually not. Is there a way to ensure that you benefit from them? I’m going to give you a tip … one simple strategy that works for me and I know will work for you.

A Story About: “How to Win Friends and Influence People”

Some time back I took a course based upon the works of Dale Carnegie who wrote the hugely popular and enduring book called “How to Win Friends and Influence People”. The goal of the course was to inspire us to greater accomplishment, primarily through confident public speaking.

Full of inspiration and motivation, the book was central to the curriculum. You might say it was the Bible to everyone in attendance. It’s all about success in life and business. Each class, in addition to our speeches, we had to quote something from the book and tell the other students how these teachings benefited us in our lives.

A Lesson in Motivation

In my observations of the students in the class, I was struck by their lack of belief and passion. It was obvious to me that no one was going to make a quantum leap forward. And the course was chock full of motivational sayings! “What gives here?” I thought to myself.

I thought of my business and my clients. As a home building coach, working with all types of people over the years, I learned one big thing … you can’t get someone to do what they don’t want to do.

My clients came to me with one goal in mind; to build or remodel a home. I learned quickly that unless they held a passion for this, they would not make a good client because their chances of success were miniscule.

But, didn’t the students sign up for this class? Surely they wanted to succeed. Perhaps, but, succeed at what? Most of them had a loose goal of something like: “okay, this course should help me improve a little”. That doesn’t cut it if you really want a change.

The Shocking Finale

As the course neared its conclusion, I realized what was missing for them and became inspired to share the lesson I learned from my business and clients. I wanted them to know that success doesn’t come from inspiration and motivation alone.

I was the last speaker on the final night of the course. I had developed my message but could I get their attention? “And now, ladies and gentlemen, let’s hear from Mel Inglima!” my turn, I was ready …

Standing if front of the audience, holding the “bible” (How to Win Friends and Influence People”) high above my head for all to see, I ceremoniously but irreverently tossed it into the trash! You could have heard a pin drop!

Success and Change Must Come From Deep Wants

As the audience stared in disbelief, I proclaimed that the book was BS and simply full of motivational quotes, inspirational stories, and sayings that stirred us for a moment but wouldn’t make a difference in our lives. I wish you could have seen the bulging eyes of the instructor in the back of the room.

But, I went on to explain that all of these words and thoughts came from someone else’s wants, someone else’s mission, someone else’s passion! The key was to take ownership.

You gotta want it. Like the lesson I learned from my experiences with my clients, the results you want come only when your goal is clear. Single minded focus on what you want must be the first step.

Your Guarantee of Success

Just like the saying “God helps those who help themselves”, I have found that inspiration and motivation work only when it comes from a deep wanting. But, there’s a trick.

To guarantee that those sayings you love so much bring the success you seek, you have to re-craft them. Make them yours. Own the goal and own the phrase. Reformulate the phrase into your own words and include your very specific goal. Remember, it’s not someone else’s dream you’re after and it’s not someone else’s emotion that will drive you.

When you fully accept and understand this, you’ll know why motivational phrases alone don’t last. And you’ll know exactly what to do to turn the tide.

Proven Success Factors That Guarantee Self Improvement

Proven Success Factors That Guarantee Self Improvement

As much as there are many success factors to consider in order for you to make it in life, there are those that simply stand the test of time. One ingredient of personal growth is having self esteem. Sir Nathaniel B. once said: To trust one’s mind and to know that one is worthy of happiness is the essence of self-esteem.

Which are the most important success factors that define true joy in life? The secret is simple; you only need to prove to yourself that you can. You do not have to prove it to anyone else. You would rather be a fool to the common eye and achieve your goals, than impress others and lose yourself in the process of pleasing others. You do not need to have someone else to tell you that you are strong or beautiful so as to be. Oscar Wilde reiterates that: To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance.

In as much as listening carefully to advice is good for you; realize that others may be out to discourage you. Some habits that are detrimental to your personal growth only start from having a low self-conception and self esteem. The victims easily fall prey, owing to the excitement of having someone commend them for doing risky acts, only to regret later. A good success factor to consider, it is better to be alone than in bad company.

It is prudent to know that you do not have to listen to others in order to know who you are or what to do. The big question is, how much then can you believe and trust yourself? This is a call to integrity which is also among the vital aspect of success factors in life. Integrity is the act of doing the right thing even when no one is watching. One Albert Einstein never ceases to inspire for he said; “Few is the number that think with their own minds and feel with their own hearts.”

You must never lose yourself even when you encounter problems. The best approach would be to face obstacles head on since they are meant to build you. “Without self-knowledge, without understanding, the working and functions of his machine, man cannot be free, he cannot govern himself and he will always remain a slave.” These words belong to G. I. Gurdjeff.

The Way To Guarantee A Job Is Properly Done By A Roof Contractor

The Way To Guarantee A Job Is Properly Done By A Roof Contractor

New roof installation is a big job but a worthwhile investment for the protection of the entire home. The roof truly could be on the list of most important elements of the home, due to the fact that it keeps the contents and inhabitants secure from the elements. When hiring a roofing contractor in Calgary you will find several considerations and details that the house owner can verify to guarantee that the project will absolutely be completed properly, for the fees quoted, and within the time promised. A roofing contractor needs to provide explanations, guarantees and contracts.

Requesting An Estimate Plus A Contract

Obtaining a quote or an estimate is a start to understanding the cost range, and work needed to get a new roof installed. The bid is not the final price, and it could go over the quoted price. Typically the final expense will be larger because plenty of the aspects usually are not included in the quote such as supplies. A contract however, is actually a formal piece of writing that will let the homeowner to have their specifications documented to avoid any confusion, or costs going over budget, before the job is already underway.

What To Include In A Formal Contract

Probably the most important parts of the roofing job to be clear and concise about are:

– The Total Price

– When the work will begin as well as the expected date it will finish

– Compliance with building code requirements, warranty and installation requirements.

– Materials used including manufacturer’s name and brands

– Details of the exact work that is to be performed

– A statement of cancellation rights.

A contract is essential to make certain that if the roofing organization doesn’t follow the terms within the contract, that there is ground for legal recourse. The contract is very important to protect the buyer during the work, and to make sure that the warranty is honoured after the job has been finished.

What To Search For In A Roofing Business

You’ll find numerous roofing businesses available for hire, and to the average house owner particularly one who has never had major renovations performed on their house, the choices can seem overwhelming. The main things to look for in a roofing contractor are experience, guarantees and a good reputation in the community.

A roof is a renovation that the house owner will want to have last for a very long time. A organization who can stand behind their work with a five to ten year warranty is far more likely to be reliable. The warranty should cover any of the work that was performed on the house by the organization. Even better, some roofing businesses will provide a quality assurance on top of their warranty. This means that they’ll offer you money, in addition to fixing the issue at no cost under warranty. Considering that businesses don’t desire to hand out free cash, it’s much more likely that the company doesn’t frequently need to revisit their prior jobs to fix an issue, and that they’re work is excellent quality.

Fully Licensed And Bonded

Ahead of hiring roofers make sure that they’re licensed. This is more than a guarantee of a great job; this is to protect the house owner against legal action if a person were to get hurt on your property. A bonded company protects from negligence, theft and fraud. Ask to actually see up to date records and a clearance letter.

A company with liability insurance coverage is also preferred due to the fact that this protects homeowners against damages that could result on their property or the property of their neighbours. All these safeguards contribute to an excellent experience with getting a new roof installed, and will help steer clear of any complications or service below expectations.

A Customer Driven Service

Be wary of businesses who want all of the payment upfront. A roofing business should desire to be sure that their clients are satisfied ahead of asking for the full amount to be paid. This provides the client an opportunity to resolve any problems that they might have, and to guarantee that the job is done to their expectations without needing to worry that the company will not fulfill their responsibilities because they have already been paid for the work.

Finally, when clients are pleased they provide testimonials to encourage other residents to use the company’s services. Ask the roof contractor that you are contemplating hiring to see some testimonials from their prior jobs. A business with an outstanding record and nothing at all to hide will be more than happy to oblige.
