Home made dslr sensor brush

Home made dslr sensor brush

So I was sitting at my computer looking at all these ruined spotty photos and finally said fuck it. I looked online and they showed sensor brushes that costed money I have one but it’s in walnut creek and I’m in Berkeley. So I thought how can I clean my d300’s image sensor with home made items. First I got a sticky note and cut it to fit the penta prism then I locked the mirror up for cleaning exposing the dirty sensor and held my camera facing downward sensor exposed and gently brushed the sensor with the soft sticky note end then after I was finished I locked the mirror back down took a test shot by pointing the camera at a white wall and blurring the lens. Then I scanned the test picture with my eyes and guess what NO DUST!:))) I hope this helps and saves some people money on things they could just build. Cheers! -alex

pinhole 1 DSLR pinhole photo – trees, park

pinhole 1 DSLR pinhole photo - trees, park

First attempts at Digital pinhole photography using a pinhole body cap on a Canon 30D.

Received the pinhole cap yesterday and tried a couple of sample shots in the backyard. After loading them onto the computer I realised the sensor needed cleaning.

No dust spots had shown with the lens I had been using – shooting at about F13 – F 16. However the pinhole cap has an effective F rating of 168.

The classic countryside

The classic countryside

After what seemed like years of 50 hour weeks without holidays, finally a long weekend had arrived, and it was time to visit the country.

Cruising along what seemed like an endless dirt track on a motorbike, I arrived at a field which I was able to tell straight away was worthy of a photo.

I immediately hit the kill switch to cut the engine, put the motorbike stand down, and stepped off, I was mesmerised by this vast countryside beauty.

I reached over my shoulder to remove my camera backpack to discover it was covered in a thick layer of red dust from the long ride. Luckily the contents were well protected, as this would have been one of the most regrettable moments in my life had I not have been able to take a photo here.

My intended long weekend escape from my mobile phone, television, and computer didn’t seem to be much of one when I reflected on this real-life image of a field of the greenest lucern and bluest sky that man had ever seen.

I no longer felt like I was in the remote country of Australia, in fact, I felt like I was sitting in front of my Windows Desktop on a Giant computer screen, anxiously looking for my start button.
