Leaf color RHSJ 7-17 35-200

Leaf color RHSJ 7-17 35-200

A colored leaf on what is probably a Maple tree (Acer sp?) seen in San Jose, CA in the vicinity of Alum Rock Park. Taken by a Nikon F3HP with a Nikkor 55mm ƒ 1.2 AI-d lens on Fujicolor Pro400H film. Exposure is in the 1/1000 sec @ ƒ 1.2 range…

Scanned into computer by an Epson V700, with the Epson software. Not dust spotted…

Taken in June or July of 2017 – so this isn’t fall color – I don’t know why the leaf is this color!

spider front stairs 1

spider front stairs 1

A spider, species unknown, sits in its orb-type web on my front stairs in Albany, CA. (in the railings…) Taken by a Nikkormat FT2 with a 55mm ƒ3.5 Micro-Nikor AI lens on Kodak Portra 400VC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Cropped heavily to 4×5 aspect ratio.

This individual appears to be missing a leg – at least, I only count seven legs… Yes, the shot is grainy and somewhat dusty… (on this shot, I couldn’t distinguish dust on the negative from dust/dirt in the web) On my 17" CRT screen (1152×864 resolution) this shot is at least twice life size – possibly 3x…

I love these fragile delicacies, weeds though they be. (in my location, at least…)

Taken at 1/2 life-size on the film. (by focusing the manual lens at that distance, then moving the camera/lens combo to focus…) Seen on my monitor at about 4x life-size.

Catherine Mermet 1 A 6-11

A Catherine Mermet Tea rose (NOT a hybrid tea…) that grows in my garden in Albany, CA. Taken by a Nikon N75 with a Nikkor 28-80mm ƒ3.3-5.6 lens on Fujicolor Superia 400. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Dust removal, color and gamma correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.

Judging by DOF and bokeh, likely aperture, and range, (1.5-2 feet) this was probably taken in the 65-80 range of focal lengths…
