spider front stairs 1

spider front stairs 1

A spider, species unknown, sits in its orb-type web on my front stairs in Albany, CA. (in the railings…) Taken by a Nikkormat FT2 with a 55mm ƒ3.5 Micro-Nikor AI lens on Kodak Portra 400VC. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Cropped heavily to 4×5 aspect ratio.

This individual appears to be missing a leg – at least, I only count seven legs… Yes, the shot is grainy and somewhat dusty… (on this shot, I couldn’t distinguish dust on the negative from dust/dirt in the web) On my 17" CRT screen (1152×864 resolution) this shot is at least twice life size – possibly 3x…

spider front stairs 2

spider front stairs 2

An orb-weaver-type spider seen in the spaces between the railings on my front stairs in Albany, CA. Taken by a Nikkormat FT2 with a 55mm Micro-Nikor ƒ3.5 AI lens on Kodak Portra 400VC. Exposure data unrecorded. Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Cropped during scanning…

Yes, the negative is both grainy and dusty: on a spider web like this (same spider as # 1, BTW, still with only 7 visible legs…) it is hard to tell dust on the negative, or from the scanner, from dust picked up by the web, so I leave it all!

Again, not sure where the blue vertical streak came from – this camera does not have light leaks!

This pumpkin has since been made into pie… there are some DDR memory chips in the background for scale.

There are, indeed, Bot’s Dots in the middle of this intersection…

The line of trees in the background has been cut down since this photo was taken! (supposedly as "dangerous"…)
