After a few practice holes I freehanded this piece. The base fabric is an African cotton that comes from the back of a vest I destroyed for the computer & pencil case project. Having done badges in the past, I knew that the result would be better if the base fabric and the thread were exactly the same color. The small square in the middle and the fringe are from the base fabric, everything else is satin stitched vintage black embroidery thread. Background fabric is from a Klimt inspired Parisian vintage skirt I destroyed for the iPad case project. My little piece looks awesome on this fabric but I decided to rest it against a lighter fabric for display. Total work for this piece, 5 glorious hours catching up on podcasts! Disclaimer: This picture was photoshopped slightly to remove white dust particles.
