I decided to do some rearranging and organizing of my desk recently. It severely needed it. To do this I purchased a Kingston monitor stand, a "floating ledge" (a fancy tiny shelf), and a corner shelf. I first tried working on the mess of wires all over the place. I originally had two power strips right next to each other on one side of the desk bellow the computer. This had every single power cable and computer cable going to the exact same spot. So I split them up to try and reduce the clutter. One strip is now under the futon while the other is next to the tower. For my external hard drives I mounted my usb hub on the back of my desk to keep their usb cables off the floor and help with reducing the wire clutter. I am not able to do much else with the wires due to materials/wire lengths/resources. But at least now it is semi tolerable. To make room on the top shelf of my desk I mounted the corner shelf above my AC and moved one of my speakers onto it. I used the monitor stand to raise my Hanns G monitor up and use the space beneath it to store my Wacom. I got a 19" wide screen ViewSonic free from my job, it would have just been given away. Once I set it up the new monitor I was left with my old Dell monitor and nowhere to really use it. For a while I had it connected to my server on the other side of the room but I never used it. I would just use VNC to have my server up on my main computer. I got the idea of mounting my spare monitor on the wall, using the floating ledge, and using a 15’ cable I now have a dedicated monitor for my server.
