This photo may bore the pants of some – please accept my apologies if that is the case.
Yesterday morning I decided to have a clean around. My study is the place that gets most dust because of the computer that’s in there, so that took the longest time to do.
Whist I was at it, I thought I’d give the inside of my computer a clean out. Surprisingly, although it was dusty, there weren’t the big fluff balls that I used to get in the last machine. I guess that is down to good case design and a tidy layout.
As you can see there is a good airflow from the ventilated rear of the case (on the right) to the CPU which is lurking inside that black box in the middle. The power supply is at the top right – well away from the motherboard and the CPU so the heat from it doesn’t affect anything else and the hard drives are at the bottom left – again away from the main airflow (they have their own exhaust slots).
There is one large exhaust fan at the front of the CPU box to draw air through and an exhaust fan in the PSU so altogether it is a quiet machine as well as a cool one. Just as well because whilst I work on my blog, Pam is usually still asleep next door. In those circumstances, we wouldn’t want a computer that sounded like a jet aircraft taking off would we?
