A conservation group called Friends of The Gorge is celebrating 25 years of conservation work in the gorge to preserve the natural beauty of this incredibly unique part of the world by offering more than 25 group hikes so that people like me can be introduced to some of the beauty that you can only experience if you are willing to put some miles on your feet. This particular hike climbs the steep slopes up from the river to an old cherry orchard which was planted more than 100 years ago and overlooks the river and the City of The Dalles. On the day of the hike the weather was blustery, cold and had wind gusts of 50 mph. In some places on the trail, it was all I could do to hold onto a rock and not get blown away! Very Exciting!!
On another note I want to say I’m actively back on flickr only because I bought a new i-mac computer. My old one bit the dust. My new computer is way fast!! So very pleasant to use.
