While assembling the components into the case only takes a few hours, installing a complete server + shell environment to a sufficient level of perfection still takes a few days, even though I recycled a lot of configuration and maintenance scripts from the Sun Ultra 5 which previously occupied this task in our home network.
Today, I can finally close the lid and leave it be for a while. (I wish. =)
(It’s running 64-bit Ubuntu GNU/Linux, in case anyone’s interested.)
